Remember being a kid and doing things just because you wanted to. You knew no boudries. Like walking. You knew to just keep getting up and trying. Its not like you told yourself, "Man, there you go again, falling down. Better give up. I can't believe I ever thought I could walk. Sheesh, what an idiot!". I doubt you talked to yourself this way when you were learning to walk. So why do you do it now?
Think about it. What are your dreams? Have you fulfilled all of those dreams that you had when you were young? Did you have set backs, but kept going and moved forward and eventually reached these goals? If you did, I would say, your a minority and pat yourself on the back for a job well done! But for the rest of us, who quickly fell into the rat race of "survival", many of us gave up on our dreams a long time ago. Why? Because we didn't have the courage to speak out against what we were up against- our fear! It takes courage to get past this.
Courage takes strength and a lot of will power. It's having the ability and strength to think outside of the box. Its having the ability to change our language, not only how we speak to others, but how we speak to ourselves. The other day my 8 year old son was asked what strength meant to him and he said it was changing a negative thought into a positive one. This takes courage. But once you find the courage to be real to yourself, miracles really do happen.
Having courage increases your self esteem. It helps you gain the confidence to build onto your dreams, one step at a time. Its also important to look back at the times in your life when you displayed courage. Often we need a reminder that we have in fact been couragous. This knowing will help you in times when you feel defeated and unable to summons up the courage card.
So today, start by having the courage to dream. Then have the courage to be willing to take the steps to make that dream a reality. Once you accomplish one step, you'll have gained so much confidence to move onto the next step you will find yourself breezing through the process. Before you know it, your dreams are achieved.
So start to act with courage. Change the way you think, talk, be. You eventually learned to walk didn't you? Why can't you also learn to dream? Dream big! There is no stopping you!
